Creating Basic Buildings

💡

Best for fast conceptual massing and flexible manual design adjustments

Using Basic Buildings for Quick Massing

  • Create buildings using rectangle, circle, or polygon footprints
  • Extrude the footprint vertically to define building height
  • Automatic floor generation based on floor height
  • Easily modify:
    • height and footprint
    • floor heights
    • building functions (residential, office, retail, etc.)

Workflow

💡

If your building will be located on sloping terrain, use a Terrain Pad to create a level building site before creating the building. The building’s first floor elevation will be set to the elevation of the terrain at the first point that you click while sketching the footprint.

  • Sketch the footprint
  • Extrude the footprint vertically to define building height
  • Adjust the number of stories and floor heights
  • Customization options
    • Reshape individual stories
    • Assigning functions to floors or areas

Adjusting a Basic Building’s Parameters

When you create a Basic Building, you can adjust its parameters.

Select the Basic Building. Adjust the building height by selecting the center point on the roof and dragging it up or down to add or remove floors.

Alternatively, modify height and floor settings in the control panel on the right.

💡

TIP: If you only want to change settings of one floor (e.g. floor height), only select that specific floor.
