Creating Rooms and Units

Rooms and units are created by drawing walls.

When using the Wall tool, a contextual menu appears at the top of the canvas where you define how the wall divides the space:

  • Divide units: New enclosed areas will become a unit.
  • Divide rooms: New enclosed areas will become a room within an existing unit.

This setting in the top-center menu is easy to miss, so be sure to check it before drawing walls.

Rooms

Rooms are tricky to select, but easy to tag once the rooms are selected.

Room Function tags are typically used to identify rooms by their function — for example, bedroom, kitchen, office.

  • Click the Drag Selection tool (at the bottom of the canvas) and choose Rooms as the element type to be selected when you drag.

  • Select a Room or group of rooms by dragging over the portion of the floor plan containing those rooms. What is selected depends on the direction of the drag motion:
    • Drag a rectangle from the upper left to the lower right to select the rooms completely enclosed by that rectangle.
    • Drag a rectangle from the lower right to the upper left to select any rooms that are crossed by that rectangle.
