Use the Heating and Cooling Loads report in Revit for a quick overview of your building's heating and cooling loads, including details for each zone and space.
Workflow
Before You Run the Report
- Adjust your building model as needed to create fully bounded, watertight spaces with walls, floors, and roofs.
- Create spaces and confirm their properties for each space in your building.
- Create zones that aggregate the spaces.
- Create an Energy Analytical Model. This will create Analytical Spaces to calculate heating and cooling loads.
Run the Report
- Open Analyze > Reports & Schedules > Heating and Cooling Loads.
- When prompted, choose to Update the Energy Model (to incorporate all the latest changes).
- Set up the Heating and Cooling Loads Analysis:
- Choose the type of Building Service from the pull-down menu of HVAC system options.
- Specify the Building Infiltration Class to be used for the analysis. If uncertain, leave this set to None.
- Choose the Report Type:
- Use Simple. Of the three detail levels (Simple, Standard and Detailed), Simple is the one built for this: it contains only summary information for the zones and spaces, and it shows each space’s peak cooling and heating airflow in a short table.
- Standard and Detailed add psychrometrics and load components (walls, glazing, people, lighting and so on). Those help when you’re troubleshooting a load, but they don’t add anything to an airflow transfer.
- Click Run Analysis.
