You can bring a building you modeled in another tool into your site so it appears in the real context and counts toward your Area metrics.
Forma Site Design can import IFC or OBJ files up to 100 MB.

- Open the Library panel in the left sidebar.
- Click the file once to select it, then move your cursor over the canvas to see the placement preview.
- If the preview does not look right, right-click the file in the Library, select Configure import, and adjust your import settings.
- Pro tip: IFC files store geometry in meters, even when the model is drawn in feet.
- Select the file again and click where you want to place it on the canvas.
- Use the Move and Rotate tools from the design toolbar to adjust its placement, then zoom out to see it in context.
- Press esc to deselect the imported building form.
Workflow — Converting Your Imported Model into a Building
Imported volumes arrive in Forma Site Design as Generic objects, and they don't count in the Area metrics in the right panel.
Area metrics only count 3D volumes that read as buildings inside the site limit.
