I'll build this in your running Revit session through the Revit connector. First I'll check Revit's status and the model, then create the levels, walls, windows, curtain walls, entrances and roofs.
The project is empty, which is a clean starting point. Let me inventory the loaded families and system types.
Revit 2024+ API (ElementId.Value). Adjusting.
The library has Door-Curtain-Wall-Double-Storefront, which is right for a glass entrance set in curtain wall. Here's how I'll lay it out, then build it in stages.
I'll use the Storefront curtain wall type (glazed panels with mullions) for Level 1, since the other curtain types have no panel assigned. Starting with levels.
Levels are set. Now the H-shaped walls and floor slabs, leaving a 30' gap at the center of the front and back Level 1 walls for the entrances.
Curtain walls don't expose orientation until the model regenerates. I'll create everything first, regenerate, then correct facing on the brick walls.
Both entrances have their double doors, canopies and columns. The column family loaded at 6" diameter, which is too slender for a prominent entrance, so I'll bump it to 18" while placing the windows.
100 windows placed (50 per floor), all 6'-0" x 4'-0". Now the hip roof over the whole H with a 4' overhang beyond the wall faces.
The roof committed; only the post-commit regenerate failed. Checking it:
All five floors are there. Taking a look at the model:
The H reads correctly: hipped wings, glass ground floor, brick upper floors with casements, and the columned entrance canopy. I'll hide the level lines in the 3D views and check the back side.
The building is in your open Revit model (Project6), with no warnings. I added two shaded views, 3D - Front and 3D - Back, for reviewing it.
Layout. The H is 250' x 80' to the outside face of the walls:
- The two end wings are 50' wide x 80' deep.
- The center bar is 150' long x 40' deep.
- That leaves a 150' x 20' courtyard on the front and another on the back.
Levels. Level 1 is at 0', Level 2 at 12', Level 3 at 24', and the roof bears at 36'. Level 3 and Roof got new floor plans. Level 2 was moved from 10' to 12'.
Level 1. All exterior walls are Storefront curtain wall. I read "curtains" as curtain walls.
Levels 2–3. The walls are Exterior - Brick on Mtl. Stud. There are 100 windows of a new Window-Casement-Double type, 72" x 48", with a 3' sill, about 13–14' apart on every wall.
Entrances. There is one at the center of the H on the front and one on the back. Each has:
- A 30'-wide glass entry bay with a 8' x 9' double storefront door in the middle.
- A 42' x 10' canopy at the second-floor line.
- Four 18" round columns holding up the canopy.
Roof. A single 6:12 footprint roof covers the whole H. It is hipped on all wings, with valleys at the inside corners and a 4' overhang on every edge. The type is Wood Rafter 8" - Asphalt Shingle.
Floors. Level 1 has a 6" foundation slab, and Levels 2 and 3 have concrete-on-metal-deck floors.
I made three choices you might want changed: the 6:12 roof slope, the window spacing, and how deep the wings are relative to the bar. The project hasn't been saved yet. Tell me a file path and I'll save it there.
