This allows the design process to be more efficient and offers for better quality control as more people are looking at the project. The one downside could be if the project gets unorganized or hectic there could be changes that leave people confused, which is why communication is key.

Constant communication between both teams virtually through models as well as written and oral communication via emails and meetings ensures that there will be fewer clashes. Design coordination should start from Day 1 as each change both structurally or architecturally could have a massive impact on the project. I do not think it is too early to start communication on these topics.
