Description

The Sun Outpost Lab is designed to use zero airconditioning and be regulated by the students in the lab by use of windows and sliding doors. The actual look of the lab is quite mundane, and I would have added a wrap-around covered porch if I knew how. However, the building is like a flower that can open and close at will. I understand now as I write this that this design was heavily inspired by log cabins in the mountains I grew up in East Tennessee, and the Marika-Alderton House designed by Glenn Mercutt. The exposed truss ceiling also allows for students to put up some hammocks, open the sliding doors and enjoy the breeze.
