Hi everyone. My name is Miaoying I am a sophomore studying Civil Engineering and Iām interested sustainable building design. I lived in California almost my whole life and learned about sustainability first when I heard about the drought that we were facing with in Elementary school. Since then I have been interested in ways I can contribute to lower carbon footprint. Combined with my interest in just looking at buildings and playing a lot of Minecraft as a kid I hope this class can help me get a sense of what building modeling and design is like and make some cool projects.
Over the past summer I spent my time in Malaysia teaching 10-15 year old kids basic python and hardware sensors along with SDG goals set by the UN in 2015. It really reminded me about what we promised to do as humans who inhabit this planet but are failing to do :C I also lived in a tropical climate for the first time and realized how much climate matters to making building decisions. I hope to use software to learn how to run simulations with different climate data to design sustainable building for different climates.
