A drawing is a picture of a building. A model is a description of one.
◦ What questions can you ask a model that you cannot ask a drawing?
Objects can be place in models more representative of what will be in the real life structure. These objects can interact, making drafting instantaneous as the models are built. They also store information than can be referenced later on, without having to search around for it.
◦ Are there things a drawing still communicates better? Give an example.
Drawing is still helpful in providing annotations and in cases where modeling would be too complicated.

◦ What is gained by using a different tool for concept, documentation and coordination?
The tools are created with specialized features intended to be used in each step of the design process. By trying to use a singular program with the features to perform every step, key details could be missed due to its implied limitations.
◦ What tends to get lost in the handoffs between them?
In some cases, the Revit model may vary from the initial design shown in Forma, and throughout iterations it can continue to drift further and further from the initial concept. In the workplace, each of these tools may be used by different individuals in different specialties, so communication is increasingly critical during the handoffs.
◦ Who on a real project team is responsible for making sure nothing is lost?
The project manager would be the main person responsible, but everyone on the team should contribute to ensuring nothing is lost.
Where should a building model actually live?
◦ What are the practical consequences of a model living on one person's laptop?
When the model lives on one person’s laptop, it limits the opportunity for collaboration. Different people would be working on different variations of a model, which leads to confusion and inconsistencies in iterations. It also poses the risk of losing the model if the laptop is stolen, lost or breaks.
◦ What changes when the model lives in the cloud, for the designer and for everyone else?
When the model lives in the cloud, collaboration is much easier. Everyone becomes aware of the current design state and is working on the same variation with clear communication.
