Version 1 was my original floor plan in the studio. In version 2, I rearranged the bathroom layout to be different. These two versions can be seen on my forma board.

Design memo of 250 to 400 words: what your calculated field computes and what it told you, and what you learned about your own design from having to document it.

The calculation I completed for the room schedule was the area per occupants. Since the occupant value had already been calculated, this was a simple calculation to plug in. I took the area of the unit and divided it by the occupant value. This tells me how many square feet there are available per person utilizing each unit. For these units and residential in general, this value is important to calculate as there are code restrictions on the number of occupants in a given space. Each of my area per occupant values are between 155-159 which is pretty standard for most safety and building codes. Beyond code, this value is important for calculating the ventilation rates of the building. For example, if there is a smaller area per occupant value, this means there is a more densely populated building or unit. Based on this, a higher ventilation rate or air change rate would be needed to ensure occupant comfort.

While going through this module, I noticed a few things about my design that I had either forgotten about or never thought to consider before. The first thing that I forgot about was that most of the elements in my model were still forma components. I decided to switch these to revit components to make things easier for myself in the future and because it was getting hard to distinguish between different components when they all had the forma name. Something that I had not thought about was the ceilings. I had not looked too closely at my model in 3D to notice that while there were floors for every level, there was not a ceiling in between them. I also noticed that with the past few modules we have been heavily focusing on the residential space that I had not considered the commercial space on the first floor in a while. I designed one of the areas to be a coffee shop or something similar to show an example of how that space could be used.
