PDF sheet set of Structural Plans, 30 by 42 inches (E1 size)
Classified clash report with counts.
(for my clash report the first half are just single instances, the second half is where I grouped the different clashes into categories and assigned all of them.
Design memo of 300 to 400 words: which system and why, where the grid fought your architecture, what you changed in the architectural model.
For my structural system, I chose concrete columns and beams for both of my buildings. For my 5 story residential building I chose timber columns with TJL Wood Open Web Joist, and then for my taller residential building I chose W Shaped Steel Columns with W10x49 and W shaped steel columns with W 14x30. I chose these because of the height of my building and also how much I wanted each column to span. I wanted a span of about 20 ft so I chose a column with a width of around 10 in since that was 1/2in = 1 ft span. I am not able to use wood to lower my carbon for the entire project but I wanted to work towards that so I made one building wood frame. For foundations I wasn’t really sure how to do them so I chose the thinnest Structure Isolated foundation in the revit family (Pile Cap-1 Pile)
For clashes a large number of my clashes came from walls intersecting with the structural frames. Since I had so many walls and each wall clashed, there were too many clashes of this type. My other clashes included clashes with furniture, I also think these clashes are not too problematic since furniture and other appliances can always be moved. The main clashes I am concerned about are clashes I have with my windows. Some of my windows are interfering with columns. For all my wall clashes and floor clashes, since I recognize that they are just clashing with the structural elements and should be valid, I marked them as valid crashes. For all of my furniture and curtain wall crashes I marked them as issues in my crash report. I also realized some of the columns didn't seem like a problem until I added the foundations which increased the diameter of the columns by a lot.
