Classified clash report with counts.

Issue detail-202611040538.pdf537.1 KiB

Design memo of 300 to 400 words: which system and why, where the grid fought your architecture, what you changed in the architectural model.

I decided to use a concrete structural system for this building. I decided that for this model it would be easiest to keep the structural material the same throughout the building. Since the foundation of the building needed to be either concrete or steel and I knew I wanted to keep the material consistent, concrete was the much more reasonable choice for this type of project. If this were a high rise building, my decision would have been to choose steel. Something else that could impact this decision in the real world would be the soil conditions of the site - if there are poor soil conditions, the loads and foundation type would have to be considered in the structural material selection. While placing my original grid, there were supposed to be columns in the middle of the elevator shaft. I had to adjust the distance between the grid lines to solve this problem. I also had to manually move a few of the grid lines to avoid them being in the way of a shaft. Overall, this was a much smoother process than I originally thought given the floor plan of my building. My columns and gridlines were very easy to place because my building is a rectangle, so the grid lined up very nicely. There was not much that had changed in my architectural model from this module. The architectural design elements remained the same and nothing needed to be changed with the addition of the structural systems. When I ran the clash report, a lot of my model showed it overlapping due to the architectural and structural models being layered on top of each other. I also wanted to note that while recording issues for the report, my forma was glitching a little bit and I could not see the individual issues, so they had to be grouped together. This is something that I will look into for the next module.
