Site Location: Jasper Ridge Biological Preserve

  • Unique Site Features: hills, natural landscape, trees, shrubs, lakes
  • Local Climate Conditions: temperature typically varies from 44°F to 74°F and is rarely below 38°F or above 84°F
  • Adjacent Buildings or Public Spaces: limited nearby structures, existing roads/pavement, public hiking trails

Design Option 1:

  • Two different L-shaped buildings
  • Performed better than the second option in both payback and insolation
  • Not my favorite design, but if it proves significantly more practical, may be worth pursuing
  • Would be interested to see how angling the building more towards the sun would increase PV Energy Production

Design Option 2:

  • Modular buildings with both rectangles and L shapes
  • Performed worse than the initial design in terms of payback and insolation
  • Want to explore more with buildins at different levels and angles towards the sun - ie stilts like the treehouse image
