Hi everyone! My name is Sheena, and I’m a first-year Master’s student in Sustainable Design & Construction with a concentration on Energy. I did my undergrad across the Bay at UC Berkeley doing Civil & Environmental Engineering and spent most of my time heavily involved in the Berkeley Dance Community. I also did internships in structural detailing and general contracting where I gained experienced with Tekla and Revit, although both were with steel systems and concrete components, respectively. Thus, I am excited to learn about modeling multiple systems in this class!
I am someone who really enjoys connecting with people and with ideas, and I find BIM to be a great application of this concept! I am taking this course because I am particularly interested in learning about how different systems and different parties come together to create a structure. I also very much enjoy efficiency and dislike waste (whether it be in time, material, or cost), and BIM is an amazing tool that allows the construction industry to be more efficient and reduce waste.
In general, I am interested in learning about how humans connect to the built environment, and how the built environment can be designed/created to help humans thrive rather than simply live. This could be in line with my interest in UIUX design, but in application to buildings rather than computer interfaces.
In my free time, I enjoy dancing and figure skating! Here is a baby photo of me (yes, my sister is sleeping next to me. no, i did not care about being a menace).
