RODIN SCULPTURE GARDEN

One of my favorite exhibition spaces/spaces to spend time in general is outside of the Cantor Museum at Stanford. Right outside exists the Rodin Sculpture Garden, a large grass field, seating for the cafe, the open atrium of McMurtry, and so many beautiful trees. To me there are so many reasons this space makes for great exhibition:

  • explorability- people of all ages can wander through the outside garden to look at trees, art, and more
  • natural beauty
  • natural flow throughout the space
  • lots of various seating
  • versatility - kids can play, adults can stare at the gates of hell, enjoy a coffee, the hot sun, etc
  • when I am here, I am at peace

GOLDEN GATE PARK

Is there a limit to what can be an exhibition space? Because to me, almost all of Golden Gate Park can be defined as a place to observe incredible happenings, from art, to landscape architecture, to architecture, to science, to flowers, to botanical gardens, to baseball. It truly has it all. It is the absolute perfect place to spend a full day and never get bored.

What makes it a great ‘exhibition’ space:

  • entertainment for all
  • incredible paths to walk
  • completely intertwined with nature

Highlights:

  • 1880s baseball that’s free to watch
  • DeYoung museum with observation tower
  • Free concert hall constantly having a show
  • Huge Botanical Garden
  • Japanese Garden
  • Conservatory of Flowers
  • Science Museum

endless… → something for everyone, will never be destroyed because it is so valued.
