I created a tall building with a regular rectangular shape. The building has window panels on its facades on each floor. Below are the variables and outputs. There are more than four, but I only used four combination to compare.

  • Provide a brief explanation of what’s being shown in the Scatterplot or Parallel Coordinates Graph and how the tradeoff being illustrated would impact the design decision. What would you do with this information?

I expected all results to have a linear relationship. However, gross volumes and building length are positive linear relationships, and gross window areas and panel widths are positive linear relationships. For PV earnings and building depth, I expected positive linear relationships because there are more surface areas for PV panels, but there aren’t. For net cost and level height, I expect a negative linear relationship because higher height for each level means fewer levels and will result in lower construction costs, but there isn’t any relationship either.
