Hi all, My name is Cheryl. I am a second year dual MS candidate in sustainable design and construction (SDC) and in Management science and engineering (MS&E). I graduated from University of Wisconsin-Madison with a bachelors degree in Civil engineering with a focus on structural engineering.

In the past, I have worked as a project engineering intern at a general contractor company in Wisconsin; a structural engineering intern at a civil engineering consulting firm in Washington DC; and a Product design and sustainability analyst at a modular / construction tech company in Seattle.

Broadly, I am interested in Decarbonized and energy efficient building design, Industrialized construction, Design (optimization) for manufacture in the construction space (and how we can apply lessons learned from traditional complex manufacturing space into the construction prefabrication space , Sustainable building materials and methods in the context of African countries, Commercialization and application of innovative building materials in different parts of the world, and Integrated Project Design in the AEC industry.

I am taking this course to learn about Parametric design. I have some background using Revit but I have never used dynamo and I am pretty excited to learn this new software and how it can be leveraged to optimize building designs. Given my interest in industrialized construction (design, prefabrication and manufacture), I think this will be a very useful skillset to develop. I have also never used Rhino or grasshopper and so even if I don't end up using those two for my assignments, it will be good for me to get versed with the basics of their UIs.

In my free time, I enjoy traveling with friends, being active (gym, biking, running, playing soccer or tennis etc), binge watching tv shows, and I have been trying to read more and more.
