Stage 1: Create Two New Evaluator Custom Nodes

Two custom nodes: Total cost ($) for the building, based on $/sft escalating by floor height; Solar Insolation Total Value, based on the roof and facade. Basics covered by examples were followed.

The total cost increased sharply with increasing top diameter, but the isolation value showed no clear trend. Calculation point granularity might have influenced.

Over 4 hours to work

Point to Ponder:

  1. Do the new evaluation metrics that you’ve designed capture the meaningful differences between the building form alternatives? ・Not the number alone. Need to dive deep into the point of making formulas from the result. A list of these formulas would help architects understand the relationships among cost, sustainability, and forms of beauty.
  2. What other metrics would be useful to compute to help understand and make the case for which alternatives are truly better than others?
  3. ・Cost - Steel amount of the leaning column, Leaning facade surface area, roof area ・Performance - Facade to floor ratio, perimeter length, etc
