LouverLogic!
Read Me:
This dynamo tool is for architects and designers who want to apply passive shading strategies early in the design process. It automatically places horizontal or vertical louvers along any selected surface or wall in Revit.
Users can specify orientation, spacing, rotation angle, and material, and the tool will instantly generate and extrude louvers flush to the wall. A built-in visualization feature assigns preview colors based on selected materials, and an optional export outputs a spreadsheet detailing louver quantities, surface area, construction cost, and estimated shading performance, making this a great early-stage design and sustainability analysis tool.
Inputs:
Input Name | Description |
Wall Face | A selected Revit surface on which to generate the louvers |
Orientation | Slider to switch between horizontal and vertical louvers |
Spacing | Slider controlling distance between adjacent louvers |
Louver Depth | Slider controlling how far each louver projects out from the wall surface |
Louver Width | Slider controlling the width of each louver |
Rotation Angle | Slider controlling degrees to rotate louvers around their center axes |
Material Selector | Slider to choose louver material from a preset list |
Outputs:
Output Name | Description |
Louver Geometry | A series of solids representing the louvers, aligned and placed across the wall |
Preview Color | Colored preview of louvers based on selected material (for Dynamo preview only) |
Louver Count | Number of louvers generated (based on wall length and spacing slider) |
Total Surface Area | Sum of surface areas of all louvers, for shading and thermal analysis |
Construction Cost | Estimated total cost based on material selection and surface area |
Shading Performance | Estimated sun-blocking score |
Excel Export (Optional) | Table of all outputs as a spreadsheet |
