Key Findings from the Interview

  • What are some common spaces that you use everyday?
  • To start with, he spends most of his time at home mainly due to COVID, and the other part of his time is spent at his university to attend lectures, study in the libraries, and complete exams. On some days, he would normally visit shopping malls, public parks, and restaurants, mainly during weekends.

  • Of the spaces you mentioned, is there one that has a feature that promotes sustainability?
  • He immediately thought of his university's campus that is full of green areas that help reduce CO2 emissions. His university also prohibits smoking on campus, which can potentially decrease the number of young smokers, decrease the frequency that one smokes, and decrease the toxic emissions resulting from this act in the campus area. He also mentions how his university encourages recycling paper, plastic, metal, and food waste by having designated bins in several areas.

  • Does the fact that your university is relatively a sustainable space affect how you feel towards visiting the campus?
  • He says that it doesn't necessary affect how much time he spends on campus because some days he is just forced to be there, but having some sustainable features definitely makes him feel better, as he would be breathing cleaner air and making sure that most of his waste used in this area is recycled. This encourages him to frequently visit the campus because he feels like it motivates a sustainable lifestyle, even if the actions done to increase the impact are minor.
