Story 1

Has this ever happened to you?

You’re a student waiting outside to get picked up, searching high and low for your parents car tapping your toes like this. We know you’re impatient, now imagine it in your parents perspective.

They already arrive 20 minutes before school ends, but there are these Karens with their Teslas are impeding traffic with their bad driving, making the wait 10x longer. These Karens don’t know they aren’t allowed to park on the curb. Other cars can’t get around them in this 2 lane situation! Why can’t there be a space for them to park while keeping the road clear for the parents who see their child already waiting for them in the front!

Solution 1

Well no more! Put a new spin on pickup, with the Roundabout Revolution! Our unique digitized pickup lot makes it impossible for Karen to make those mistakes again. We designed the parking slots to made parking extremely easy even for someone like Karen: anyone can pull in and out with one simple move without blocking the traffic behind. Karen apparently wants to park as close to the school gate as possible: sure! She can move up to the closest row to the school as long as they don’t exceed the 3 minute time limit. Rows are clearly numbered to allow for easy communication between parents and their kids, so Karen can text her child exactly where she is. Once the time limit is up, Karen has to give up the space for someone more in need if her kid doesn’t show up, since a sensor will activate an alarm to encourage the driver to move along, making it an efficient and smooth system.

With that settled, let’s take a look at a student’s perspective.

Story 2

After taking an environmental science class, Grace begins to pay attention more to her carbon footprint on her commute to school. Shes used to taking the Uber, but she finds there is a more sustainable option for her time, money, and the environment which is taking public transit. But what gives, the bus stops are just too far from the campus. Ever resourceful, she decided to tackle her transportation woes by biking to school. However, the initial excitement soon gave way to the harsh reality of her daily commute. How these cross eyed Karens are driving, cutting right into the bike lanes, biking might be the worse option!

Solution 2

Good news for Grace is, we’ve improved all the greener options! We now have bus lanes only a few steps from the school’s back gate, far away from the heavy private traffic near the front gate and free from any potential congestion. The school and the local bus company will work together to make sure affordable buses now pull into these lanes at five minute intervals during rush hours, carrying students to the town center, the Caltrain station, and major residential blocks nearby in more sustainable ways. If Grace still prefers bikes, we’ve extended the bike lanes to our new bike racks right next to the school buildings, protected by security cameras; we make sure that there is a physical barrier between the bike lanes and the car lanes so that biking is not only convenient but also safe.

Additional features

Additionally, we want to maximize the comfort and convenience aside from sustainability and smoothness.

Whether they are waiting for their parent’s car or a bus, students can wait comfortably on covered benches, protected from the scorching Californian sun by solar panel overhangs.

Not knowing whether or not a parking spot is open is a universal pain. Well no longer, as our digital parking display showing just how many spots there are left in each row before going in. No more idling and circulating the parking lot 10 times to find a spot either, just slide in easy and get out in a blink of an eye.

to ensure student safety on approaching the waiting cars, we have designed a covered pedestrian overpass, allowing students to safely cross over the busy roads without risk or worry.

Opportunity

With students just coming back to school from covid, now is the perfect time to reevaluate how we pick them up!
