Area Metrics are located in the Analysis menu on the left-hand side.
- When you start a new project, a set of default metrics is already defined in the overview.
- In addition to these predefined metrics, you can create custom metrics at any time.
Visualizing Area Metrics
When you hover over an area metric in the Area Metrics panel, the corresponding areas are highlighted in the design canvas — both in 3D view and Floor Plan view.
To continue displaying a metric as you design, turn on the Toggle Metric Colors button at the top of the Metrics section of the Analysis menu.
Then:
- Click on the metric in the panel to toggle its visibility on.
- The highlight will remain active as you move the camera.
What Area Metrics are Available
Areas
The Area tab lists high-level building and site metrics. These metrics are predefined and cannot be modified.
- Site Area — The total area defined as the Site Limit. If you have multiple Site limits that overlap, the overlapping area will be counted only once in the Site Area stats.
- Building Coverage (BC) — The total area covered by buildings on the site.
- Building Coverage is calculated based on the largest horizontal footprint of the building.
- This means that overhangs are included — the system accounts for the outermost extent of any floor above.
- If buildings overlap vertically (for example, one building positioned above another), the overlapping footprint is only counted once in the total Building Coverage.
- BC % is Building Coverage divided by Site Area.
- GFA (Gross Floor Area) — The total gross floor area across the site for any buildings.
- NFA (Net Floor Area) — The usable floor area within a unit.
- NFA excludes the area occupied by walls between units, but does not subtract interior walls between rooms within the same unit.
- Efficiency Factor — Efficiency factor is Net Floor Area / Gross Floor Area.
Units
A Unit is a collection of rooms.
- The Unit area is calculated as the total area of all the rooms, and interior walls between rooms are included.
- The Unit boundary is defined by the inside face of the unit-dividing wall.
Rooms
The room boundary is defined by the inside face of the room-dividing wall.
Balconies
- There is no separate balcony area metric, and balcony area is not reported per balcony.
- Balconies are not projected into Top view, so they do not contribute to Building Coverage
