Adjusting How the Scene is Displayed

The Visualization toolbar allows you to adjust how the scene is displayed. These settings help you customize the view to suit your workflow.

  • You can:
    • Toggle between perspective and orthographic camera views
    • Switch between elevation, floor plan, top view, and 3D view
    • Choose your preferred unit system
    • Specify a selection filter to control which elements can be selected.

Changing the unit system

The unit system is set in the Visualization toolbar, not in a project or account setting.

  • Open Visualization and choose your preferred units.
  • Changing this setting affects how all dimensions and area metrics are displayed.

Selecting What the New View Will Focus On

Depending on what view you are currently looking at, you may have to specify what you want to view by clicking.

For example, if you are in the 3D view and press 3 to switch to an elevation view, you’ll be asked to click the façade you wish to inspect.

Additionally, floor plan and elevation views both feature a building thumbnail you can use to navigate between different buildings, floor groups and façades.

Showing or Hiding Technical Details in a View

You can choose whether to display technical details (such as grid lines and level lines) in a view by toggling the Technical Drawing setting in the Visualization Options menu.

  • To show the Technical Details, open the Visualization Options menu and toggle the visibility icon to Show.

  • To hide the Technical Details, open the Visualization Options menu and toggle the visibility icon to Hide.

Adjusting the Depth of an Elevation View

In an Elevation view, you can adjust the sightline you are inspecting the view by repositioning the section line that appears

Some camera modes also have additional options available in the user interface, like the section view in Elevation, which allows you to adjust what sightline you are inspecting the façade from.

  • Switching the building thumbnail in the top right of the elevation mode from 3D to 2D.
  • Then drag the section line to the location that you’d like to view this elevation from.

  • If you drag the section line to the exterior of the building facade, you’ll see an Elevation view that shows the exterior of the building.

  • If you drag the section line to the interior of the building facade, you’ll see a Section view that exposes the interior of the building. Note: You may need to Hide the Technical Details using the Visualization Options menu to see the interior.
