Notes:
“how are you influenced to buy stuff”
- sees people with clothes on tiktok —> gets the ideas. if she then sees the product on a shelf or somebody outfit then it solidifies her interest in it
“how do you go about buying stuff”
- if she sees somehting online she will try to buy it in in-person
- for other articles of clothing she will try to find a similar/replica of it in store
- shoes, hoodies, shirts she will buy online
“what do you take into consideration when you’re about to buy something”
- mostly price. she doesn’t care about the brand, but prefers something that is namebrand bc she knows it’s gonna be good
- but if she finds it at the thrift and it’s not branded she’ll buy it
- if it’s expensive (i.e. $40 for an item, really takes into consideration how long she’s gonna wear it/like it)
“thrifting”
- usually goes thrifting as a social thing, but does buy a good amount of clothing when she does go
- if she was to go a regular store like pacsun, she will buy less items because it’s more expensive
- the stuff she wears the most is from the thrift
“overrall as a consumer, where do you rank yourself on the spectrum”
- is definitely susceptible to impulse buying, especially if her
- the cheaper an item is, the more likely she is do impulse buy
- example: when she went to france in zara, she got 3 impulse buys because she was on vacation and there was a novelty to it
“are you convinced by sales/deals”
- doesn’t go out of her way to “find wahts on clearance this season”; not a big black friday person or cyber monday person
- clearance section is not a big draw for
- doesn’t like/use rewards programs - they’re never worht it for the $5 off $1000 you get for giving people her information
“disposal”
- definitely holds onto things she doesn’t need
- her mom has to tell her to donate stuff, and if she does it’s huge amounts of stuff
- clutter bug - sentimental value, maybe one day she’ll wear it again
- always donates to goodwill
“sustainability - are you persuaded by sustainable advertising”
- never with clothing - harder to emphathize with sweat shops and fast fashion, so she doesn’t think about it. for clothing, it’s harder for her to grasp that’s contributing to waste in the world
- actual things, like toothbrush or water bottles, she will do little things to reduce her footprint.
