Key Findings from the Interview

  • Buy out of necessity
  • Shopping for seasons
  • Not tech savvy, so they don’t really know about to sales/memberships/points from emails, social media, etc

Notes:

  • they buy more often in store.
    • in store: groceries, clothes
      • they go shopping with a purpose or if they see something in the newspaper then they’ll check it out online
      • in free time, they go to malls with clothes
    • online: gadgets and tech that are useful for the house; for the garden
    • they look at quality, if they already own this, if it’s comfortable, on weather (this is really important considering the seasons), and price.
    • dziadzius will buy something in the moment. if he finds something that he sees, likes, and thinks is useful, he buys it immediately. Babcia looks at the price, sometimes without considering quality.
    • they hold onto stuff for a long time, but not in a hoarder way. they just accumulate things
    • Disposal:

    • if old or not purposeful, then they give to people they know or donate
    • utilize local donation boxes
