Goal 1: Reduction in Artificial Light Usage and Increased Introduction of Natural Light
Measure: Energy consumption by artificial lighting.
Target:
- Minimally Acceptable Target: At least a 25% reduction in artificial light usage during daylight hours compared to the baseline.
- Desired Target Value: A reduction of 50% or more in artificial light usage during daylight hours.
Strategies:
- Install larger windows, skylights, and light tubes in optimal locations to enhance daylight penetration.
- Orient the building to maximize the amount and quality of sunlight exposure.
- Apply shading devices such as overhangs to mitigate direct sunlight in areas with intense exposure.
Goal 2: Usable/Functional
Measure: Proportion of effectively used space.
Target:
- Minimally Acceptable Target: At least 80% of the total available space is effectively used.
- Desired Target Value: 95% or more of the total available space is effectively used.
Strategies:
- Design public spaces to be multipurpose.
- Align the building design with the intended purposes of the occupants.
- Incorporate green spaces, such as indoor gardens and green roofs, to enhance usability.
Goal 3: Sustainable
Measure: LEED Certification for Building Design and Construction.
Target:
- Minimally Acceptable Target: Achieve at least LEED Silver Certification.
- Desired Target Value: Achieve LEED Platinum Certification.
Strategies:
- Utilize renewable energy sources, such as solar panels.
- Employ sustainable building materials.
- Install high-efficiency HVAC systems.
- Implement rainwater harvesting systems for gray water usage.
