Goal 1: Reduction in Artificial Light Usage and Increased Introduction of Natural Light

Measure: Energy consumption by artificial lighting.

Target:

  • Minimally Acceptable Target: At least a 25% reduction in artificial light usage during daylight hours compared to the baseline.
  • Desired Target Value: A reduction of 50% or more in artificial light usage during daylight hours.

Strategies:

  1. Install larger windows, skylights, and light tubes in optimal locations to enhance daylight penetration.
  2. Orient the building to maximize the amount and quality of sunlight exposure.
  3. Apply shading devices such as overhangs to mitigate direct sunlight in areas with intense exposure.

Goal 2: Usable/Functional

Measure: Proportion of effectively used space.

Target:

  • Minimally Acceptable Target: At least 80% of the total available space is effectively used.
  • Desired Target Value: 95% or more of the total available space is effectively used.

Strategies:

  1. Design public spaces to be multipurpose.
  2. Align the building design with the intended purposes of the occupants.
  3. Incorporate green spaces, such as indoor gardens and green roofs, to enhance usability.

Goal 3: Sustainable

Measure: LEED Certification for Building Design and Construction.

Target:

  • Minimally Acceptable Target: Achieve at least LEED Silver Certification.
  • Desired Target Value: Achieve LEED Platinum Certification.

Strategies:

  1. Utilize renewable energy sources, such as solar panels.
  2. Employ sustainable building materials.
  3. Install high-efficiency HVAC systems.
  4. Implement rainwater harvesting systems for gray water usage.
