Your Design Journal entries for this module should highlight your design thinking and analysis results that influenced your decisions about:

  • your overall HVAC system strategy

The overall HVAC system strategy is using air system to achieve the cooling and heating purpose for the whole system. The building is divided into two parts, A and B, which is denoted by two zones, the zone A will control the central part of the building when the center is indoor space.

  • your heating & cooling strategy and how you implemented it in your design

The heating and cooling strategy are the same with air system, the air terminals are placed in each space according to the calculated CFM number. The air terminals are placed at the locations which is near the window, for the reason that the biggest heat gain and loss are from the interaction through window.

  • any special HVAC system challenges that you encountered
  1. Since I only have one mechanical room in each zone, there is a problem that should I make open shafts in corner places to connect the whole HVAC ducts in this building, if so, the duct size must be really big.
  2. I have not put return ducts in the system because most of my building are occupied by open area, which has a lower demand of return ducts.
