Big Picture
I would like to achieve an exhibition space that would have a positive impact on the visitors’ well-being, promote sustainability, and use sustainable solutions for the design. Building materials, renewable energy, and biophilic design are the solutions to reduce emissions during the construction phase and operation of the building.
Design Ideas
- Green facade
The building will welcome its visitors with a green facade that is a great representation of architectural beauty and commitment to sustainability. Besides the visual appearance, the green wall can significantly improve air quality around the building and reduce thermal dispersion.

- Solar energy
Placing solar batteries on the roof of the building is the way to achieve a clean and renewable source of power, reducing reliance on fossil fuels and decreasing carbon emissions. It can also be used for educational purposes to teach visitors about renewable energy using building efficiency as an example.

- Mass timber as a building material
By reducing the amount of concrete and steel used and implementing the use of mass timber, carbon emissions during the material production and construction phase can be significantly reduced. This material is also known for its strength, fire resistance, and acoustics. Moreover, biophilic design has a positive impact on human well-being and can be correlated with a positive impact on learning, memory, and emotions.

- Natural light
Natural light will result in energy efficiency of the building by reducing artificial light usage and temperature control. Proper placement of windows will also increase the value of space by making it look larger. Moreover, natural light plays an important role in the well-being of the visitors.

- Exhibition space
exhibits freely without interrupting each other. It will also allow a more creative placement of the exhibits and interactive boards. The atmosphere and mood in the space can be controlled by music/sound effects and lighting. Using natural and artificial light, exhibits should have proper light intensity and shading to attract visitors’ attention.

- Openable windows for ventilation
Maintaining a comfortable temperature with fresh air is essential for a successful exhibition space. Besides air conditioning and ventilation, a smart system for openable windows can be used to cool down the building at night and during short periods during the day depending on the season.
