Creating a New Shared Levels & Grids Project from a Base Site Model

Creating a New Shared Levels & Grids Project from a Base Site Model

‣

Create a Cloud Model

  • Create a new Revit project using the Default project template.
  • Save the project locally: Shared Levels and Grids - TeamName
  • Save the project to ACC: Shared Levels & Grids folder
‣

Link to the Base Site Model

  • Link to Revit Project: Base Site - TeamName using Project Base Point to Project Base Point
    • Changle Link to Attachment
  • Switch to the Default 3D view
‣

Acquire the Coordinates from the Base Site Model

  • Manage > Project Location > Acquire Coordinates
    • Select the Linked View
    • Coordinates will be acquired from the Base Site model.
‣

Set up the Levels to Be Shared

  • Switch to Site View
    • Hide Survey Point
  • Cut a section thru the project site area to help with adjusting the levels.
    • Switch to the Level 1 plan view
    • Add a section across the project site area
  • Switch to this new section view
  • Add the new Levels
    • Set the elevations per the team’s scheme
    • Set the Level names per the team’s scheme
  • Delete any unused levels that came with the Default template
    • For example, Level 1 and Level 2
‣

Set up the Grids to Be Shared

  • Create the Grid lines at the desired project location and orientation relative to the site features
  • Set the grid names per the team’s scheme — for example: A, B, C as horizontals, and 1, 2, 3 as verticals
‣

Rotate the Project (if needed) to orient the gridlines to match the X & Y axes (for easier modeling)

  • Use the Rotate Project North tool to align project north with the gridlines
