Jonathan’s POV: When I come in in the morning, I find myself having to navigate around all these bike that people have left in their rack. I really wish people put more thought into getting these useable bikes to those who need them. It shouldn’t be that hard to put together some form of social media outreach or something.
Sacha’s POV: I’ve gotten a lot of complaints about these discarded bikes and dirty racks, but we just don’t have the capacity to take care of all the requests. I want students to be able to get back to learning like the pre-pandemic time, and these bikes are just another lingering inconvenience. I remember reading an article about how bikes are causing a lot of waste, and I wonder if there was something someone could do to take care of some of it.
Dr. J’s POV: It’s such as shame that these bikes are being abandoned. The frames are still perfectly useable, if not for bikes, than as raw materials. You should be able to turn them into something. People really don’t understand how much you can get out of things you would think to throw away.
