Key Findings from the Interview

  • In your daily life, when do you use energy the most?

Upon reflecting on the idea, he explains that the two main contributors to his energy use are his house appliances (for lighting, cooling, cleaning...) as well as his gasoline fueled car that he depends on for transportation.

  • What type of energy-run product would you be interested in?

Looking at how most of his lifestyle relies on nonrenewable and unclean energy sources, he is interested in gradually incorporating renewable energy sources in his daily life. Since he lives in an old building with weak structure, he explains that it's difficult for him to install solar panels on his roof and his options for other large-scale energy systems are limited. However, he admits that he would be interested in less complex systems that supply energy in a clean way to his main household appliances.

  • What would be the main characteristics that you would look for in this product?

As a university student trying to constantly amp up his savings, he mainly cares about the product to be affordable and long-lasting. He understands that selling such a product at reasonable prices may mean that the product efficiency may be low and thus may not power the entire house per se, but he explains that decreasing his consumption of unclean energy by even a small percentage is better than 100% reliance on fossil fuels.
