Who Did You Interview?

  • Summer Session Student

Demographics That Might Provide Helpful Context for Their Responses

  • Name: Sean Yepez
  • Live in: Half Moon Bay, CA
  • Age: 35
  • Financial Analyst

Key Findings from the Interview

  • Drives EV to commute to work when living in Half Moon Bay, and walks/occasionally drives when living in EVGR
  • Living in EVGR is more sustainable than living in single family house in Half Moon Bay — no driving on daily basis required, living in walking distance to classes and office
  • Has solar panel installed on roof to provide electricity for all areas in the house - converted to micro convertors, then DC power to charge EV and AC
  • Due to the retro nature of the house, though it can power the home, heating system is still gas
  • Recycle system for family house
  • To become more sustainable, the single family home could be higher in density — has enough resources for two families to live in it, but he lives in the house alone
  • Thinks heat pump system should be used for gas and heat system; natural gas is more plentiful and cheaper when the house is built compared to now; wants better ventilation(less of natural gas)
