Top Three Solutions

  1. Put a QR code on the back of the junk mail that functions as a way to opt-out
    1. People can choose to only receive what they like
    2. Senders will better reach potential consumers because they will be more directed towards who to send to
    3. Save paper and resources because less mail will have to be produced
    4. Questions: Still trying to figure what system will manage people’s preferences. What will shape sender’s lists?

  2. Smart Mailbox Technology
    1. The mailbox is equipped with sensors/cameras that send the recipient updates about what they are expected to receive
    2. The user could sort their mail remotely and then the mailbox could sort this mail
    3. Although this saves time, the flaw is that more junk mail will go unopened, junk mail will still be produced at high rate and the mail box could be really expensive making it inaccessible to many people

  3. Digital Stamps
    1. System in which senders must acquire digital stamps to permit sending to individuals
    2. The system could be based on the company’s current popularity
    3. The system could be a pay system that requires companies to pay a fee for the stamps
      1. This hopefully would decrease the amount of junk mail produced
