Observational Project Idea, Homework Part A
The idea is that the cable or sling can be pulled out and rolls itself in again. If one could easily clip or velcro the βcableβ box inside a regular tote bag or backpack, one would also not need to be scared of losing the ID Card. If it - for some reason - detached, it would just fall into the bag and not on the street. It would also be possible to attach other things to the hook, like the dorm key.
Preliminary Problem Statement, Homework Part B
β> Defining the Problem, from the POV of the observed subject.
- [USER] needs to [USER'S NEED] because [SURPRISING INSIGHT]
- [STUDENT] needs to [BEND DOWN UNCOMFORTABLY] because [HE WANTS TO OPEN A DOOR WITH HIS KEYCARD AND IS TOO COMFORTABLE TO DETACH IT FROM HIS NECK]
Based on this observation, the following preliminary problem statement can be formulated. For the sake of keeping the ideation process open, this problem statement will be more general:
Students need to carry and access many things simultaneously. Over the course of a day, many tasks and hand movements accumulate, costing valuable energy that is rather being saved by the student - potentially for the price of elegant behavior. Therefore, there needs to be a simple and elegant way to carry small items like keys, cardholders that holds them easily accessible, without the need of complex hand movements.
