Part B - Preliminary Problem Statement

Preliminary Problem Statement :

Bacteria found on products handled by cashiers during retail transactions represent a notable public health risk. It is crucial to implement effective measures to minimize the transfer of pathogens from cashiers to products and, consequently, to consumers, thereby ensuring a safer shopping environment.

From another perspective, workers at Walmart and similar stores face challenges when handling numerous products throughout their shifts. They often cannot leave the cashier station frequently to wash or sanitize their hands due to the continuous flow of customers. This constant interaction with items touched by different people increases the risk of exposure to germs and bacteria.

PoV: Sanitizer cashier would be dedicated to sanitizing products before they are handed to customers. This reduces the need for other cashiers to handle potentially contaminated items and minimizes the spread of germs.

My friend, who majored in cell and molecular biology, is passionate about exploring various aspects related to bacteria and microbial science. Her deep understanding of bacteria has grown through extensive lab work and analysis involving animals and plants during her studies. She pays attention to detail in studying microbial interactions and their significance in real world activities. Moreover, she applies her knowledge of bacteria to practical, real-world applications. Whether it's in healthcare or environmental, she uses her expertise to address real-life challenges and contribute to advancements in these fields.

PoV: Sanitizing products helps cashiers prevent germs from spreading, which is crucial for public health. my friend, who studied cell and molecular biology, knows the importance of stopping pathogens and maintaining healthy environments. When cashiers sanitize products, they create a cleaner, safer space that aligns with my friend's knowledge and values in microbial science and hygiene. This supports her goal of ensuring a sanitized public environment, reflecting both her professional expertise and personal commitment to health and cleanliness.

The existence of bacteria in public places has drawn more attention in the fields of public health and personal hygiene. For individuals like my colleague, these concerns are not merely casual observations but deeply rooted in personal experiences and struggles with OCD (obsessive-compulsive disorder). Ali and I had a lot of conversations about this topic, and we concluded that it has become evident that his heightened awareness of germs underscores the broader issue of maintaining cleanliness and minimizing health risks in public places. This introduction sets the stage for exploring the significant impact of bacteria in public places, particularly from the perspective of someone who suffers from OCD-related concerns about hygiene.

PoV: Sanitising things before they are delivered can greatly lessen their anxiety associated with coming into contact with germs. This preventive action improves the shopping experience by addressing both product cleanliness and customer comfort. People with OCD such as my colleague Ali may feel more at ease navigating public spaces and participating in daily activities like shopping if they are aware that precautions have been taken to reduce the possibility of germs.
