Interview Findings for My Focus Area

I tried to interview people from different age groups in order to collect diverse insight about the topic.

I interviewed 6 people, 3 male and 3 female from age groups spanning between 20ish/ 30ish/ over 50.

The results showed that females usually tend to buy more clothes and wear them in less occasions rather than man and also an inconsistency among younger users: while they profess themselves to be more concerned about sustainability than older people do, their behaviours are instead less responsible than older people ones.

Moreover, after making the first interviews, I realized that my questions were mostly related to the consumers attitudes during the shopping phase, while instead, what I am mostly interested in is the last phase of clothes journey (when they are no more worn), so I decided to change my questions in order to gather more relevant information.

The final version of the question I asked were:

  1. How do you feel about sustainable fashion? Tell me about your consumer attitudes.
  2. Tell me about your relationship with the clothes you buy: for how long would you say you wear them? What is the turnover in your wardrobe?
  3. What is the percentage of clothes in your wardrobe you don’t wear anymore?
  4. Could you suggest me some ways to give clothes you do not wear anymore a new life? Which of the things you mentioned do you actually engage with?
  5. What is, in your opinion, the reason that blocks you from undertaking the sustainable action you have mentioned before?
